“Jack Sabbath” – a Jack Black-led group of teenage performers including Tom Morello’s son Roman and Scott Ian’s son Revel – banded together at Tom Morello’s Power to the People festival to perform slate of tribute covers to (as their name might imply) the legendary Black Sabbath. Black, Morello and Revel as well as Yokoyo Soma and Hugo Weiss played a set featuring many of the band’s most iconic songs, and as Consequence reports, their closing performance of “War Pigs” added an even more special guest to the already exciting line-up, with none other than Black Sabbath bassist himself Geezer Butler joining. Videos of the performance can be found posted online.

The line-up included “Mr. Crowley,” “The Wizard” and of course the closing performance of “War Pigs,” a fitting choice for the festival. Black, who previously performed “Mr. Crowley” alongside Roman Morello and Revel Ian, wore a shirt with “OZZY” written across it in honor of the late Sabbath lead singer. The Tenacious D frontman brought his usual energy with dance moves during the solos, even performing harmonica during “The Wizard” which he had stated was something he learned specifically for this gig.

The performance is one of many in the stacked Power to the People festival – including names like Serj Tankian, David Grohl, Public Enemy, Killer Mike, as well Scott Ian and of course host Tom Morello – but stands as a unique tribute to one of the biggest icons to metal and the music world at large.

Writing especially is an area I've always found myself gravitating towards, between assignments in class, working for the school newspaper or just writing in my spare time. I love providing and hearing new perspectives. In addition to my studies and work in writing, I work part-time at after-school and summer programs for my local elementary school. I've been a part of these programs since I was in high school, and I've even been assigned to work one-to-one with children with special needs. I like to think that if I'm able to communicate well with children in the 2nd grade, then I can communicate well with most adults too!
