Mongolian folk metal act The Hu released a new single this past Friday, titled “Warrior Chant.” Off their recently released third studio album, The Hun, the track received a new music video alongside this release. The video can be found on the band’s YouTube channel.
Opening with a more traditional sound focused on strings and percussion, the video shows a person in modern day. The protagonist appears to be sucked up into some kind of portal where they are met with ancient warriors, some of whom are singing along with the track. As the song continues in intensity, modern metal influences slowly but surely join the instrumentals to build up the track further.
“Warrior Chant has our signature rhythm that our fans fell in love with and everyone who will listen and know us will say that it is our song,” said the band’s Galbadrakh “Gala” Tsendbaatar. “Our third album has bit of everything -rhythm wise, and we see that as a progress of expanding the Hunnu Rock genre. This song has the rhythm that is original to us and is rooted in Mongolian culture. Enkush and I focused on horse head fiddle solos by imitating the horse gait and you will hear the rhythm throughout the song. Of course Jaya perfected the rhythm by adding Mongolian wind instrument, Unu did heavy percussion drum throughout. Mongolian traditional instruments are heavily used on this song and our die hard fans are going to love it!”
The Hun also received a Vinyl release today alongside the single’s release.
