The iconic hip-hop group Bone Thugs-N-Harmony has had an eventful year, from receiving a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame back in July to currently touring with Wu-Tang Clan as their opening act. However, some missing faces from the five-member group during their recent performances have been causing a stir amongst fans online. Layzie Bone and Bizzy Bone have yet to take the stage with the rest.
Both members have recently taken to social media to explain their absences. In a YouTube video, Bizzy Bone explained that by the time he heard about opening for Wu-Tang Clan, everything had already been “signed, sealed and delivered.” He said he didn’t want to go through the hassle of adding himself to the lineup and wanted to let his fellow band members take the opportunity. He went on to clarify that there was no bad blood, saying, “I’m still rooting them on. Long live Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.”
Layzie Bone took to Instagram over the weekend to share why he wasn’t in attendance, claiming he’d been “left in the dark.” He said he’d had issues with the group earlier this year, but he believed things had been restored after the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“But it was another reason after another reason, which I’m going to let them answer,” he said. “Let them tell me why they put me off the road because I didn’t put myself off the road. I assembled this group. I helped build this group for 35-plus years.”
Today, Krayzie Bone posted several videos to Instagram responding to Layzie’s claims. He said he doesn’t usually make response videos because he feels like the situation is a personal matter, but decided to respond because it had already been made public.
He denied Layzie’s allegation that he’d been left in the dark, explaining that they all agreed that if Layzie went to rehab, the rest of the group would ensure he got paid and supported.
“We had an agreement with you. We told you if you go to rehab, while you’re still in rehab, we will still pay you while you’re getting yourself together,” Krayzie said. “We told you that. You refused. So no, we didn’t just leave you out in the cold. We told you what it was. And we told you that we still had your money waiting for you.”
Wu-Tang Clan’s Wu-Tang Forever: The Final Chamber North American tour with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony will run until October 4th.
