King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard Shares New Single “Kill For The Steel”

According to Consequence.net, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard has returned with a new song, “Kill for the Steel.” The track follows the band’s recent singles, “Level 5” and “Alien Metal”, both of which find the Melbourne band leaning into a darker and industrial techno sound. “Kill for the Steel” continues that trend with pounding rhythms, heavy low-end and a processed electronic vocal that says, “We don’t wish death upon you / We don’t wish any bad luck or any ill will / But we will kill for the steel.”

All three songs are set to appear on Alien Metal, which is King Gizzard’s forthcoming 28th studio album. The record grew out of the band’s recent “rave shows” and their massive custom-built modular synthesizer rig, affectionately nicknamed “Nathan.” The setup builds on the electronic palette they previously explored on 2023’s The Silver Cord, while pushing further into techno and other enduring club-oriented sounds. “Kill for the Steel” arrives just days before King Gizzard’s sold-out Field of Vision II festival, taking place August 14-16, in Buena Vista, Colorado. The band’s self-curated gathering returns for its second year with King Gizzard performing each day along with sets by Blood Incantation, Angine de Poitrine, W.I.T.C.H., La Luz and other talented acts.
