According to Blabbermouth, there is some great news for Anthrax fans as new music is officially on the way. Bassist Frank Bello just shared that the band’s long awaited album is finally finished and getting ready to be mixed.
In a new interview with Real Music With Gary Stuckey, Bello gave a quick but exciting update by stating, “The record is done, it’s going into mixing now, which is great.” He didn’t say when it’s coming out just yet, but this is the biggest step forward fans have heard in a while.
It’s been nearly a decade since Anthrax dropped their last album, For All Kings, back in 2016. Since then, the band has been teasing new material off and on, but between the pandemic and everyone’s busy schedules, things took a little longer than expected.
According to Bello, that extra time was all about making sure they got it right. “We’ve been taking our time ‘cause we want it to be right,” he said. “The songs are really cool. I can’t wait for people to hear it.”
The band has already hinted that the new album will bring the heavy, old school energy that fans love, with some fresh twists thrown in too. Now that mixing is underway, it likely won’t be long before fans get a new single or to be even more hopeful, a tour announcement.
For now, just knowing the album is done is enough to get fans raving. As Bello said, “We just want it to be great.” Now, it looks like they’re well on their way.
