Singer, Liam Gallagher, recently posted a racial slur on his social media and now is apologizing to his fans, saying that he does not discriminate. On July 1, 2025, the singer had posted the term via X, which has since been deleted. The term that he had posted is a term which is used to mock East Asians. “Sorry if I offended anyone with my tweet before it wasn’t intentional you know I love you all and I do not discriminate. peace and love LG x,” said Gallager in his apology. When he originally shared the post, one of his followers had written, “Liam you can’t say that.” He had replied, “Why,” and the other account had replied with “gonna get cancelled.” Showing a lack of empathy, Gallagher responded with, “Whatever.”
Gallagher had also shared his statement on his Instagram stories. The slur he used was widely recognized derogatory impersonation of Asian accents, according to an article by NME. The slur that he had used is mainly also widely used to mock people of Chinese origin or people who would be perceived as Chinese. The term he had used was often used during the COVID pandemic, since there had been an increase in anti-Asian hate crimes. The hate crimes were caused due to the misinformation spread.
Gallagher had made his post just a couple of days before his band, Oasis, played the first show of their 2025 reunion tour. They take the stage on July 4, 2025, and their second show is the next night.
