Today, Lady Gaga has announced Harlequin, which is an album inspired by the character Harley Quinn from Joker: Folie à Deux out Friday, September, 27, ahead of the film’s wide release on October 4. Taking listeners on genre-defying journey capturing the essence of one of pop culture’s most iconic and chaotic figures, the album is as diverse and complex as the character and woman that inspired it.

Harlequin marks Gaga’s first new album since Chromatica in 2020. She previously announced plans to release an album of fully original material in 2025. On social media, Gaga is referring to Harlequin as LG6.5, distinguishing it from the 2025 release, which she has described as LG7. Back in August, the artist teamed up with Bruno Mars for the standalone single, “Die With a Smile.”
According to consequence.net, the Todd Phillips-directed Joker: Folie à Deux, Gaga plays Harley Quinn opposite Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck / the Joker. The film has been described as a jukebox musical, featuring covers of jazz standards like “Get Happy,” “That’s Life,” “Oh, When the Saints” and Frank Sinatra’s “I’ve Got the World On a String.” All of these songs are included on the track list for Gaga’s Harlequin, are several originals.
