According to stereogum.com, on September 4, TV On The Radio announced their return with handful of small-venue shows in New York, Los Angeles and London, marking their first in five years. The band will also release a 20th anniversary deluxe reissue of their debut album Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes. However, TV On The Radio’s first reunion show will not be their November gigs at Webster Hall.
As part of the New York Fashion Week festivities, Vans built a recreated version of Max Fish, a closed Lower East Side bar that was central to the early 2000s NYC indie rock scene. Brooklyn Vegan reported that the band played a surprise set consisting of six songs in front of the makeshift storefront last night.
With the upcoming TV On The Radio reunion shows on the horizon, guitarist and producer David Andrew Sitek did not take part in last night’s set but the videos that have been shared do show that the band has retained the usual energy that they always seem to bring on stage during their liver performances.
