Kim Gordon is about to embark on her international tour, and has shared a special surprise for her fans to celebrate. Her new single, “ECRP,” is now available, as well as the accompanying music video.
The new single comes just months after the release of Gordon’s second solo album, The Collective, which was released to much acclaim from fans and critics alike. “ECRP” seems to stick to Gordon’s usual sound, with its trap influence and use of distortion. But the track also remains distinct from her last project. In the song, Gordon mentions “rumors of free speech” and “ashes on the nightstand,” creating a disorienting atmosphere for the listener.
The music video for “ECRP” was directed by Gordon’s daughter, Coco Gordon Moore. The video cuts between various shots across New York City— quick glances at the surrounding skyscrapers, close ups of random spots on the streets and shots of Gordon singing in a large, empty space overlooking the city. The video elevates the industrial sounds of the new track.
Following the release of The Collective back in March, Gordon played six shows here in the U.S. to celebrate. Now, she’s hitting the road again, performing various songs from the new album along with this new single throughout the summer. She’ll be performing across the U.S. before venturing across the pond to Europe.
