Sondre Lerche has announced a few celebratory US dates in honor of the 20th anniversary of his second album, Two Way Monologue. The new US dates include three performances, one of which will take place in Los Angeles, California at the Barnsdall Gallery Theatre on Friday, October 18.
In celebration of the 20th anniversary of his classic album Two Way Monologue, Sondre Lerche will be performing a handful of intimate solo shows accompanied by a string quartet. The performances coincide with the release of a new anniversary edition on vinyl and digital featuring a handful of never-before-heard bonus tracks. Lerche will be heading out on a nine-date solo tour which kicks off on October 12 in New York, NY and concludes on December 12 in London, UK. The tour only includes three US dates that will visit New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. Following the US performances, Lerche will perform five shows in Japan before concluding the tour in the UK.
“What a trip it’s been, from then to now, from Two Way Monologue to Avatars of Love, basically,” says Lerche. “My immediate impression upon hearing it again actually confirmed my notion that these two albums are some kind of kindred spirits — only separated by nearly twenty years of life. Hearing Two Way Monologue now I can feel myself aching and stretching towards another sense of freedom and another level of expression in music. It was something I couldn’t quite grasp as the time — a need for more space, more adventure and clarity of emotion, channeling a more esoteric state of mind. If I don’t quite feel that I achieved any or all of this, I say so with the sense that I did achieve something else worth capturing. The album strives for expressions way beyond my reach at the time, especially in terms of words and singing. To me it sounds like I’m wrestling both my limitations and my abilities. I’m not quite sure what was most frustrating to me at the time: all that came easy, or everything that was so hard-won.”
