Green Day Perform Old & New Anthems For ‘Amazon Music Live’ Season 2

Green Day took over Amazon Music Live Thursday night with a fiery performance sharing the first two singles from their upcoming album Saviors. The East Bay punk legends rocked the stage with a hour-long set filled with anthems for the sixth episode of Amazon Music Live.

Following the Buffalo Bills vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers game, Green Day took the stage performing a career-spanning catalog including two new singles. The performance opened hot and heavy with their latest single “American Dream Is Killing Me” from the band’s upcoming fourteenth studio record Saviors, set to release on January 19, 2024. Like the classic Green Day anthems, “American Dream Is Killing Me” criticizes American politics and the American way of life, in particular America’s housing crisis, unemployment and more. The set also included their upcoming single “Look Ma, No Brains!” which the band previously debuted during their headlining performance at Las Vegas’ When We Were Young festival on Sunday, October 22. For weeks, the trio — Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool — have teased their upcoming album sharing the album’s first single and music video as well as performing a surprise show and hinting to a tour announcement.

The Grammy-winning band also performed classics such as “Welcome to Paradise,” “Basket Case,” “Know Your Enemy,” and “Minority” with a harmonica solo. Armstrong forgot the lyrics during “Longview” but made up for it in the best Idiot Nation-spirit, shaking his ass in front of the audience. Through shouts and scream-a-longs fans quickly formed most pits during “St. Jimmy” and of course “American Idiot.” It’s safe to say no Green Day concert is ever boring, with over 30 years of rock ‘n’ roll the band sure knows how to light up the stage.

Amazon Music Live is hosted by 2 Chainz and airs after Thursday Night Football on Prime Video and Amazon Music’s Twitch channel. The show features weekly musical guests with performances filmed in front of a live audience in Los Angeles. The weekly livestreamed concert series has featured stars such as Ed Sheeran, Lil Durk, Feid, Peso Pluma, and more. Those who are lucky enough to attend the live performances can splurge on drinks, food, and merchandise.

Amazon Music Live Season 2’s final episode features multiplatinum Grammy-nominated rapper Latto with a live performance Thursday, November 2, live streaming at 9 p.m. PT on Prime Video. For more news on Green Day’s upcoming album Saviors visit here.
