K. Flay Performs Free Show At Amoeba Hollywood To Celebrate Release Of ‘MONO’

Just hours from the official release of her fifth studio album, K. Flay surprised fans with a free special performance of new singles from the newly released album MONO. On Thursday, September 14 a limited number of fans were treated to a free 30-minute performance by multi-platinum artist K.Flay at the Amoeba record store in Hollywood, California.

LA-based singer-songwriter K. Flay celebrated the release of her album, MONO, her first album release since suddenly going deaf in her right ear. Fans who pre-purchased a copy of the album in-store were granted access to a free live performance and received a limited-edition “K. Flay – Live at Amoeba” poster. Just minutes before five o’clock fans excitedly packed the area near the small stage at the back of the record store, eager to see the Grammy-nominated artist perform new songs for the first time.

Roughly at 5:05 p.m. stormed the stage instantly performing the first track from MONO, “Are You Serious?” which perfectly sums up all the tough emotions the singer-songwriter felt as she learned that she was officially deaf in her right ear. Next followed the first single “Raw Raw,” released back in April. Next followed “In America” performed live for the first time giving fans a sneak peek of the record before its official release later that night. The singer took a brief moment to address her life-changing diagnosis stating that when she was told that she was deaf in her right ear, she decided to record a brand new album. She also shared that the vinyl editions include an exclusive track, track No. 2 “Carsick” will not be featured anywhere else according to the singer. The singer-songwriter introduced “Hustler” as the quiet moment of the album that was originally written on the piano and illustrates the feeling of suddenly not knowing someone you were close to captivating a disoriented feeling. K. Flay closed out the performance with the energetic and third single “Irish Goodbye,” no Vic Fuentes of Pierce the Veil did not accompany K. Flay for the performance of the single.

Sadly, fans were left hungry for more as the performance ran roughly a little over 20 minutes. Nevertheless, it was an amazing experience for many as they were treated to an incredible performance by the newly reinvented K. Flay. This is not the first performance by K. Flay at Amoeba as she also celebrated her second studio record Every Where Is Somewhere with an in-store performance in 2017.

K. Flay will soon embark on her European tour kicking off on September 20 in Poland. For more updates or to purchase MONO visit kflay.com.
