Gorillaz Bring The Getaway Shows To LA This September

Gorillaz announced their return to the road with four major shows across the United States. Damon Albarn and his cartoon band are embarking on The Getaway Shows this September starting with a show on Sunday, September 10 at the BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, California.

The Grammy-winning alternative rock band are heading out on a four stop tour with shows in LA, Austin, Chicago, and Boston. Just last September, Gorillaz performed in LA celebrating their Cracker Island album with surprise guests Beck, Del The Funky Homosapien, De La Soul, and others. The cartoon bandits also made special appearances at Coachella performing with Bad Bunny, Beck, Thundercat, and De La Soul. Support at the Gateway Shows includes Kaytranada, Lil Yachty and Remi Wolf.

Earlier this month Albarn’s other band, Blur, announced their first album in eight years and performed two new singles from the album during their first full live set in eight years. Needless to say, Albarn has kept busy these years returning with a bang and hitting the road with two of his most popular creations.

Albarn and artist Jaime Hewlett created the Gorillaz in 1998 as a virtual manufactured band. Gorillaz consists of the fictional characters 2-D as the vocalist, Murdoc Niccals as the bassist, Noodle as the guitarist, keyboardist and backup vocals, and Russel Hobbs as the drummer. Aside from the music videos, the Gorillaz universe has expanded over the years with comic strips, interviews, short cartoons, clips and more. Albarn is the main musical contributor behind the scenes but pulls in a wide range of featured artists to collaborate including De La Soul, Bad Bunny, Beck, Thundercat, Stevie Nicks, and many more. Gorillaz is an amazing act to see perform live, it is a must see live act as the group knowns how to party and continuously surprises their audience throughout every show.
