RIP: Modest Mouse’s Jeremiah Green Dead At 45

One of the last tragedies of the 2022 year has been the death of American indie rock band Modest Mouse’s drummer, Jeremiah Green at the younger age of 45.

Consequence Sound shares that Green’s passing was revealed in a sad Facebook post by Modest Mouse frontman Isaac Brock right before midnight on New Year’s Eve. Brock’s post stated “I don’t know a way to ease into this: Today we lost our dear friend Jeremiah. He laid down to rest and simply faded out. I’d like to say a bunch of pretty words right now, but it just isn’t the time. These will come later, and from many people. Please appreciate all the love you give, get, have given, and will get. Above all, Jeremiah was about love.”

Green’s death has happened days after his mother Carol Namatame publicly announced his diagnosis and struggle with stage four cancer and had asked for “healing vibes” his way. Brock had confirmed this in another statement, stating that Green had been diagnosed “a short while ago” and that he was undergoing treatment. Modest Mouse had just finished touring in November 2022, which Green was a part of.

Green had co-founded Modest Mouse with Brock and the band’s bassist Eric Judy in 1993. Despite not being with the band for a year from 2003-2004, Green has consistently been with the band and was one of the only members that has stayed since the beginning besides Brock. Green had also played with the bands Red Stars Theory and Vells.
