American indie grandmasters Guided by Voices were scheduled to perform a series of shows next week at SPACE in Evanston, Illinois. These four shows were set to lead up to a sold-out gig on New Year’s Eve. All four of those concerts have now been canceled because frontman and maestro Robert Pollard has suffered a fractured kneecap.
The band announced this disappointing news yesterday on social media, sharing an X-ray of the singer-songwriter’s injury. As per the post, refunds will be processed soon, meaning there are no signs of the band rescheduling the shows as of now.
Refunds will be processed automatically for all Eventbrite ticket orders immediately. Please allow 7-14 business days for credit card refunds to post back to your account. No other steps need to be taken.

In other news, the group recently announced their plan to release a new album next year. La La Land, their 37th full-length studio release, will be out on January 20! About the upcoming release, Pollard told Rollings Stone that the band “continues to explore a path of diversity in styles and in longer, more adventurous song structures.” Check out the record’s latest single, “Instinct Dwelling,” below:
Though Pollard’s injury has been a minor setback, Guided by Voices is showing no signs of slowing down. We wish them a speedy recovery.
