Metallica just announced their M72 World Tour running 2023 through 2024 with 46 shows throughout the world. The band will perform two nights in every city it visits with a No Repeat Weekend theme, meaning each night will be include a completely different lineup and setlist. Metallica is set to stop by Los Angeles for two shows at the SoFi Stadium on Aug. 25, 2023, with special guests Pantera and Mamoth, and Aug. 27, 2023, with Five Finger Death Punch and Ice Nine Kills.
The M72 tour will feature a bold new in-the-round stage design that relocated the famed Metallica Snake Pit to center stage. I will also feature the I Disappear full-tour pass and the debut of discounted tickets for fans under 16 years of age. The North American leg of tour is presented by Liquid Death and Blackened American Whiskey. A portion of proceeds from every ticket sold will go to the band’s All Within My Hands foundation.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted band founded All Within My Hands in 2017 in efforts to assist and enrich the lives of members of the communities who have supported the band. The band has raised nearly $13 million and given grants to career and technical education programs, helped combat food insecurity, aided disaster relief efforts worldwide, and much more with the money collected.
Metallica confirmed the world tour following the announcement of their upcoming 12th studio album, 72 Seasons, set to release April 14, 2023 via Blackened Recordings. The 12-track album will be the band’s first full-length record since their 2016 album Hardwired…To Self-Destruct. The album is produced by Greg Fidelman with Hetfield and Ulrich.
The LA-based heavy metal band has received nine out of 23 nominations of Grammy Awards, five of which were for Best Metal Performance. Metallica are accredited to being one of the pioneers for hardcore metal and have influenced a wave of artists. They were also recognized as one of the greatest songwriters in the genre, using personal experiences as inspiration.
The two full years tour was inspired by the fans strongly dedicated fans. Metallica wrote on a press release how they were inspired by fans who traveled to San Francisco and their two-night performances in the 2021 Wimmer Festivals. Wanting to keep the two nights in one city with totally different setlists concept, the band created the M72 tour.
