The Atlanta based rapper and singer-songwriter Young Thug is now being sued for a concert he was allegedly unable to perform due to an arrest in Summer of 2022. According to NME, Young Thug was allegedly set to perform at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta on June 18, but could not attend after being arrested in April.
The court documents explain that Young Thug, whose real name is Jeffrey Williams, allegedly received $150,000 in down payment prior to the event, and was set to receive $150,000 more after the event was over. However, the concert promoter A-1 Concert Entertainment has alleged that Williams has not yet paid back this down payment back.
The document explains that “Due to his arrest and the nature of the felony criminal charges against Williams, it was immediately apparent in May 2022 that he would not be able to perform as required in the agreement… To date, A-1 Concert has not received any reimbursement of the $150,000 owed to it.” NME notes that a representative from YSL touring, a part of Young Thug’s record label, has announced that refunds will be issued.
Young Thug is scheduled to stand trial for the suit on January 9, 2023.
Young Thug was recently featured in Killer Mike’s new single “Run.” The rapper also previously joined Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa on their single “Potion.”
