Hunx & His Punx have released two new singles called “White Lipstick” and “Lose My Mind.” Both songs are the band’s first new release of new music since 2013’s Street Punk. “White Lipstick” was named after the John Waters movie and talks “about being a queer teenager seeing women perform in bands and wanting to be just like them.” Its music video follows that, with the lead singer Seth Bogart strutting in g-strings, a leather jacket and literal white lipstick. See the fun 80’s themed video below.
“Lose My Mind” gives the grunge punk rock sound from the ’90s. It reflects on how terrible the world is, more specifically on gun use in America.”It’s about thinking, “Fuck, what should all the women and queers and weirdos that don’t like guns do? Do we need them to protect ourselves?” It’s about hating guns,” which was said in a press release. Check it out below.
The group is set to perform at the Levitation music festival in Austin, TX in October. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, The Jesus and Mary Chain and The Black Angels are also a part of the lineup. Earlier this year, the band joined Bikini Kill at a handful of shows in North America.
