Metallica Honors Stranger Things’ Eddie Munson By Playing “Master Of Puppets” During Lollapalooza Set

Stranger Things, the popular Netflix show, featured the iconic song, “Master of Puppets” by Metallica in the Season 4 finale. This resulted in the song hitting the Billboard top 100 for the first time ever. In response, Metallica closed out the first night of Lollapalooza 2022 in Chicago with their own rousing rendition of the song, playing alongside video clips of the scene from the show, according to Consequence. Clearly, there has been a mutual air of admiration between the band and the show since the finale aired on July 1st.

Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo’s son Tye played some of the guitar parts during the memorable scene, while actor Joseph Quinn practiced and mastered the song himself. The performance was met with great applause from the crowd. You can check out the full set below; “Master Of Puppets” plays at the 14:40 mark.

Metallica’s 16-song set rocked Lollapalooza, with classics like “Enter Sandman,” “Nothing Else Matters,” “Seek & Destroy,” and “One,” plus a 10-minute version of “Master of Puppets.”

This show was one of three in the US for Metallica this summer. They will also headline in Buffalo, New York on August 11th, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on August 13th. If you want to catch either of the remaining shows, tickets are here.
