Grey Daze Share Cinematic Song And Video “Starting To Fly”

Grey Daze recently revealed the June 17 release date for their new album, The Phoenix, on Loma Vista Recordings. To celebrate the announcement, they have released “Starting to Fly,” a new rock anthem about finding yourself and your true potential, likely with the late Chester Bennington in heart and mind.

Grey Daze is a band that was founded by Bennington and Sean Dowdell in the early 90s, and their sound was a mix of grunge and alternative rock. The band parted ways in the late 90s, with Bennington going on to later form Linkin Park, but after the death of their frontman in 2017, the band decided to reunite and honor his memory. With Talinda Bennington’s blessing and with the help of producer Esjay Jones, the surviving band members—Dowdell, Beyers, and Davis—created a tribute album to Bennington.

“Starting To Fly” is a tribute done right. The song is a perfect example of what made Bennington and the members of Gray Daze such a powerful musical force. It’s a heavy, grunge song with Bennington’s signature, powerful vocal performance, and the band’s incredible musicianship. The production is incredible, and the song is clearly a labor of love.

“We felt sad when we were writing it. Now that we’re a couple of years removed, it’s very clear what we were going through. We were at a different stage of grief. We went through the shock and the sadness. Now, we’re back to gratitude. So, The Phoenix is more of a celebration of our friend, his talent, and the music. It captures Chester’s angst and energy that people fell in love with. It’s much more aggressive. If you love Chester’s scream, you’ll love this record.”
