Today the legendary rock band The Black Keys Announced their 11th studio album Dropout Boogie and to celebrate this joyious occasion the band also released their new single “Wild Child” plus an accompanying video. The album is set to be released on May 13, via Nonesuch.

The new record will be released one day before the 20th anniversary of the band’s classic The Big Come Up  and it will feature Billy F. Gibbons of ZZ Top, Greg Cartwright of Reigning Sound and Angelo Petraglia of Kings of Leon. According to the press release, fans can expect a little throw back to the duos early days.

“That’s always been the beauty of the thing Pat and I do. It’s instant,” Dan Auerbach says. “We’ve never really had to work at it. Whenever we’d get together, we’d just make music, you know? We didn’t know what we were going to do, but we’d just do it and it would sound cool. It’s the natural chemistry Pat and I have. Being in a band this long is a testament to that. It was a real gift that we were given. I mean, the odds of being plopped down a block-and-a-half from each other in Akron, Ohio–it just seems crazy.”

The song showcases the funky blues rock of the bands early days very well while being simultaneously a “bop” as the young people would say. The chorus invites the listener to sing along and it wouldn’t come as a surprise if the song is stuck in you ear for the rest of the day.

The duo will hit the road this summer, after the release, along with Band of Horses. They also played few selected dates last year, calling it the “World Tour of America,” shortly after their release of Delta Kream.
