Rammstein have unveiled their first single and title track from the upcoming album, Zeit. The album will be released April 29.
Members Till Lindemann, Paul Landers, Richard Z Kruspe, Flake, Oliver Riedel and Christoph Schneider spent two years on Ziet, which consists of 11 total songs that will be released via La Fabrique Studios. The music video for the title track is currently available to watch.
“Zeit,” which translates to “time,” begins with Rammstein members under floating underwater, until it rewinds to the characters battling the waves, and later, battling in a war. The aptly named song brings listeners through different fictional historical events with one character remaining consistent throughout – a veiled supernatural being who leads characters through time. Overall, the song discusses our mortality and fleeting moments of happiness.
Lindemann’s powerful vocals command listeners to listen throughout the 6-minute track. “Time, please stand still, stand still,” Lindemann sings. “Time, this should always go on so/Time, it’s so beautiful, so beautiful/Anyone knows the perfect moment.”
Alongside their upcoming album, which promises to appease Rammstein fans, the group will be embarking on a European and North American tour in spring and summer 2022, which was previously postponed due to the pandemic. However, it did give Rammstein more time to perfect their album.
