MerleFest Announces 2022 Lineup Including Old Crow Medicine Show, Greensky Bluegrass, Allison Russell and More

MerleFest has announced its next round of artists for MerleFest 2022. The festival will be taking place April 28 – May 1, 2022. Bands such as Old Crow Medicine Show, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Steep Canyon Rangers, Allison Russell and We Banjo 3 have joined the lineup. Some of the artists already on the lineup include Emmylou Harris, Greensky Bluegrass, Rissi Palmer and other talented performers. MerleFest celebrates the homecoming of both musicians and fans alike at the Wilkes Community College campus.

MerleFest’s Festival Director, Wes Whitson says, “We are so excited to welcome music fans back to the campus of Wilkes Community College in the spring.”

Some of the other artists announced today include Darrell Scott, Alison Brown, 49 Winchester, Arlo McKinley, Rev. Peyton’s Big Damn Band, The Arcadian Wild, Caleb Caudle and Dr. Bacon.

Old Crow Medicine Show is an Americana string band from Nashville, Tennessee. They’ve been recording since 1998. The band consists of vocalist Ketch Secor, bassist Morgan Jahnig, keyboardist Cory Younts, drummer Jerry Pentecost, guitarist Mike Harris and gitjo player Mason Via. One of their most notable albums is 2014’s Remedy which won a Grammy award for Best Folk Album.

Greensky Bluegrass is a five piece blues grass, rock band from Kalamazoo, Michigan. They were founded in Mid-2000. The band is made up of mandolinist and vocalist Paul Hoffman, guitarist Dave Bruzza, dobro player Anders Beck, double bassist Mike Devol and banjo player Michael Bont. Notable songs of theirs include “Past My Prime,” “Courage for the Road,” “Worried About the Weather” and “Room Without a Roof.”

Allison Russell is a Canadian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, poet and activist. She’s from Montreal, Canada. Prior to her solo career she was part of music groups such as Po’ Girl, Birds of Chicago and Our Native Daughters. She released her first solo album, Outside Child, last year.
