In celebration of their brand-new album Moral Hygiene, the industrial metal band Ministry has released a new music video for their single “Disinformation.”
The intense music video delves into the dangers that come with consuming mass media and the complicity that results if viewers do not attempt to critically engage with the information they are being fed. Ministry presents this subject matter by editing themselves into black and white footage of the past along with jump cuts to members of the group shredding away, quotes from Donald Trump and unsettling images of surgery on organs.
Ministry’s backing track sets the pace for the hectic music video with a steady headbanging drum beat alongside some deadly guitar riffs and potent vocals. “The new normal, a taste of what’s ahead / The human race probably won’t survive / We can’t go back ’cause the past is dead / We can’t go forward ’cause we’re buried alive,” the group sounds off playing into the dire importance of the track.
Moral Hygiene marks the group’s 15th studio album and features some of their strongest tracks to date. The 10-track release follows their previous studio album AmeriKKKant which came out in 2018.
Ministry recently rescheduled their US tour for spring 2022 which will also star The iconic sludge metal group The Melvins and stoner rock band Corrosion of Conformity. Back in August, the band released a new cover of The Stooges’ “Search and Destroy” featuring Billy Morrison.
