Post-hardcore band Quicksand showcased their new live lineup and on the guitar, is none other than Cave In frontman Stephen Brodsky. Ever since the departure of their original guitarist, Tom Capone, in 2017, the band has been releasing music as a trio.
Just this month, the band released their new album, Distant Population. Indicating that Brodsky will be joining the band is their newly released live performance video of their single “Colossus,” a song featured on their new album. Check out the performance below.
Even in the video, the band keeps it mysterious at first, revealing the big surprise just about the midst of the performance. With clever shots, it almost looked liked it’s just the trio at first, with just a few milliseconds of Brodsky until the audience can finally see him clearly. A way to build anticipation.
The guitarist has played with Quicksand drummer Alan Cage before, in their project New Idea Society.
Brodsky himself has been involved in multiple projects, including Mutoid Man. Brodsky is the founding member, singer and guitarist of the rock outfit. Mutoid Man also had a recent lineup change when bassist Nick Cageao announced he would be parting ways with the band. He was also a founding member of the band. Mutoid Man fans don’t have to be too disappointed, as the band shared their plans to keep working on their upcoming new music.
Brodsky’s other band Cave In has also shared some rather exciting news. Not only are they playing their classic debut album Until Your Heart Stops in its entirety at the Decibel Magazine Metal & Beer Fest in September, but the band has also announced a new album for 2022 after signing with Relapse Records.
