As news of the Delta variant continues to spread, artists and music promoters are doing whatever they can to keep the music going. On August 16th, American rock band My Morning Jacket became the latest band to announce new COVID-19 protocols aimed at keeping future shows safe.
In an official statement released on Monday, the band announced that they will be requiring all ticketholders to provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test result secured within 48 hours of the show to attend concerts on their upcoming 2021 tour that starts in Charlotte on August 27th.
The band’s protocol, which can be found on their website, states that fans using a negative COVID-19 test result for entry will not have to take any subsequent tests to attend multiple My Morning Jacket shows at the same venue. In addition, “proof of a full COVID-19 vaccination will be the only acceptable form of entry” for several venues including the October 31st New Orleans show, the November 4th-6th Chicago shows and the December 29th-31st Denver shows. There is, however, an exception for children under the age of 12 where a 48 hour negative test result will be allowed.
In the announcement, My Morning Jacket emphasizes their continual excitement for the upcoming fall tour and they urge those who haven’t done so to get vaccinated.
“We can’t wait to see you all on tour in a couple weeks. We care deeply about your safety, and want everyone – fans, our touring and local crew, and the band – to get in, have a great evening, and get home healthy!”
My Morning Jacket was originally formed in Louisville, Kentucky in 1998. Led by vocalist and songwriter Jim James, the band has a rich and diverse catalogue that spans across multiple genres and rock disciplines. Notorious for their elaborate live performances, the band recently announced that they will be performing all three nights of the One Big Holiday event in Riviera Cancun, Mexico, on March 2nd-5th.
