It might be one of the weirdest pairings in the metal scene. Cradle of Filth and pop barden Ed Sheeran seem to talk about a possible collaboration. Frontman Dani Filth recently shared this interesting news via an interview with the Kerrang! Radio Breakfast Show. The singer revealed he was emailing with Sheeran.
Last month Sheeran mentioned the metal band during an interview, stating that he was open to record a metal album. After that, the exchange between the two artists began.
According to Filth this is by no means a joke, “No, no, it’s true! He actually touched based with me. I’ve been invited up to his place. Well, he said he could come down to mine, but I pointed out to him that I don’t own my own bar or village, and it’d be better if I went there.”
Sheeran owns £61 million in estate, labeled “Sheeran Ville” which does indeed include a pub.
Filth also stated during the interview that the pop singer-songwriter further told him that he is a massive Cradle of Filth fan.
Just last month the metal band announced their newest album Existence is Futile. The record is set to be released on October 22nd, so just in time for Halloween. The band also dropped their first single off the record,“Crawling King Chaos.”
About the album, Filth said, “The album is about existentialism, existential dread and feat of the unknown.”
The British metal band was set to hold a live stream concert in December last year, but postponed it to February of this year, saying many band members lived too far out into the country and would have to quarantine to be safe.
