Turnstile Announces New Album Glow On for August 2021 Release

Turnstile

After releasing their EP Turnstile Love Connection just few weeks ago, the hardcore band Turnstile has now announced their new album Glow On to be released on August 27th, 2021. The band is also set to start touring again this year and will be featured on the Outbreak Festival Lineup 2022. Their tour will also feature stops at the legendary Slipknot founded festival Knotfest Iowa. It’s lineup for 2021 includes Slipknot, Lamb of God, Fever 333, Faith No More, Megadeth and more.

The group’s tour will conclude with another festival, the Primavera festival in Spain. The line up bill includes artists like, Bauhaus, Iggy Pop, Gorillaz, Tyler, the Creator and others.

There’s not a lot of information out about the album, but the band is known for being more experimental. In 2018, Turnstile released their album Time & Space, a fusion of hardcore and hip hop, according to the album’s Pitchfork review. Turnstile Love Connection is a mix between Beastie Boys-like hip hop elements and some lightweight indie beats, all mixed together with hardcore. It is not sure if the album will take the same direction. The EP combined indie, hip hop and hardcore elements together, creating an unexpected atmosphere. “HOLIDAY” is vastly different from the following song “NO SURPRISE.” “MYSTERY” fuses futuristic elements, hard hardcore riffs and clever bass lines. The last song on the EP, “T.L.C. (TURNSTILE LOVE CONNECTION)” shortly connects with the previous song and then ends up to be a rather classical hardcore/punk track. Because the band switches their style so drastically within one EP, even within one single song, it is hard to categorize the band and their style.

According to BrooklynVegan, the band announced the album via Instagram and a giant billboard in Baltimore. You can check out the announcement below:
