Halsey Reveals NSFW Album Cover and August 2021 Release Date for New Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross Produced Album If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power

On July 7th, pop artist Halsey revealed the cover art to her upcoming album, If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power. The cover shows a smiling Halsey sitting on a large throne, exposing her breast while holding a baby. The medieval-looking cover art was revealed today during a promotional event at The Metropolitan Museum of Art (Met). Halsey’s album was produced by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, both members of the legendary industrial band Nine Inch Nails.

According to nme.com, the singer explained when announcing the album art reveal that it “celebrates pregnant and postpartum bodies as something beautiful.” Further, the singer went on her social media and explained the idea behind her concept album. This album is a concept album about the joys and horrors of pregnancy and childbirth,” the pop singer writes.”The idea that me as a sexual being and my body as a vessel and gift to my child are two concepts that can co-exist peacefully and powerfully.”

The artist was involved in a lawsuit in May. According to NME, the singer was featured on Benny Blanco’s debut single “Eastside,” which was written by Ed Sheeran and featured Kahlid. The band XO sued the group because they alleged “Eastside” shares strong similarities to their 2015 track “Loveless.

The album’s producers Reznor and Ross are known for their award-winning production skills. The duo also produced the oscar-winning soundtrack to Pixar’s Soul. But the duo is still actively making music themselves as well, in January they performed together with Mike Garson and Reznor’s wife Mariqueen Maandig at “A David Bowie Celebration:’…just for one day'” covering the late singers “Fashion” and “Fantastic Voyager.” Reznor collaborated with Bowie on the song “I’m Afraid of Americans” in 1997.

If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power is set to be released on August 27th via Capitol Records. The album is now available for pre-order.
