Join Kamasi Washington and Earl Sweatshirt for a summer night of jazz and hip-hop at The Hollywood Bowl on July 18, 2021. This event at The Bowl will be hosted by KCRW DJ Anne Litt. For this concert, “Kamasi Washington brings ambitious scale to bear on jazz history, and Earl Sweatshirt gets personal.”

Grammy and Emmy-nominated saxophone virtuoso and bandleader Kamasi Washington introduced hip-hop audiences to the lineage of spiritual jazz and hard bop with 2015’s The Epic and 2018’s Heaven and Earth, both of which received wide critical acclaim. He’s performed alongside incredible hip-hop and rock artists, including Kendrick Lamar, Run the Jewels, Thundercat and St. Vincent. He’s been nominated for multiple awards, and took home the win for Worldwide Awards’ Album of The Year, Libera Awards’ Album of the Year and Best Jazz Album. His score for the documentary, Becoming also received several award nominations.

Los Angeles-based hip-hop artist Earl Sweatshirt is known for his gifts in writing lyrics and production. He received critical praise for his debut mixtape, Earl, which he released when he was just 16 years old. His second and third albums, I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside and Some Rap Songs also received widespread acclaim. In 2019, Earl Sweatshirt released an EP titled Feet of Clay.
