Megadeth’s Marty Friedman has shared his brand new song “Kaze Ga Fuiteiru” which will be featured on Tokyo Jukebox 3. The upcoming album is the third part of his Tokyo Jukebox series that will debut on April 16. Friedman’s series first began in 2009 when he released Tokyo Jukebox and then continued in 2011 when Tokyo Jukebox 2 officially came out.
In a press release, Friedman stated, “I’ve been playing stuff from the first two ‘Jukebox’ albums live all over the world, and it’s taken on a life of its own. Especially in places like North and South America, Australia, Italy, France and even India. My fan base is very dedicated, and what I have found is that lots of new fans have been introduced to Japanese music and culture through me, which is very gratifying. On the tours it seems like aside from the dedicated guitar fans, the Japan fanatics have been noticeably growing, so now felt like the right time to do Tokyo Jukebox 3.”
“Kase Ga Fuiteiru” is the third single to be released from the forthcoming album with “The Perfect World” and “Makenaide” being the first two. Friedman explained that he put a lot of heart and soul into making the upcoming album, and more specifically, his new track.
“While keeping intact the essence of Ikimono Gakari’s ‘Kaze Ga Fuiteiru’ melody that I loved, I tried to destroy it, reconstruct it and create five minutes of new music that might bring a tear or a chill, and decidedly lifts your spirits. Whether I accomplished that or not is entirely up to you, but when I just finished the recording of ‘Kaze Ga Fuiteiru,’ someone who’s opinion I respect very much called it ‘grand and elegant,’ so I’ll go with that!”
“Kaze Ga Fuiteiru” is an electrifying, instrumental-based track that successfully hits every musical note in the book. The song has an incredibly large and impressive quality that gives it a whole new level of artistic dimension that isn’t commonly heard in a singular song.
Friedman was recently featured in live stream event that consisted of many other guitar legends like himself. Artists like Steve Vai, Devin Townsend, Steve Vai, Nita Strauss and more teamed up to appear on the fundraiser live stream in support of Jason Becker, who suffers from ALS and is no longer able to play guitar like he once had. The event has 13 separate live streams where each guitar legend will perform. The Jason Becker Fundraiser Live Stream started on March 23 and will continue through April 23.
