Heavy metal band Butcher Babies have released their new song “Yorktown” today. The song features a solo from Andy James who is the guitarist for band Five Finger Death Punch and also was produced and co-written by From First To Last’s, Matt Good.
The release of their newest song follows the band’s latest video and song titled “Sleeping With The Enemy”. The song is a single from the band’s upcoming EP which is said to release later this year.
Carla Harvey, who is Butcher Babies’ co-vocalist shares her views about the new track in a statement saying, “What the hell is Yorktown you ask? Well, it’s our very own little Gotham, a world we’ve created wherein two vamps patrol. the city at night while stalking each other like prey! The magic happened when our two anti-heroines form an alliance to defeat the seedy Yorktown underbelly,” she explained. “It’s one of my favorite Butcher Babies songs that we’ve written as of late; a true nod to our love for building characters and storytelling over heavy riffs. We scream, we sing… we save Yorktown from impending doom.”
The song begins with a steady drum sound and then takes a quick turn as the drums and guitar enter and the vocals scream the lyrics. It’s an upbeat and empowering tune. Take a listen to the new track below.
Prior to the song’s release the band had plans to host a livestream concert in December 2020, but unfortunately had to postpone the show after one of their crew members tested positive for COVID. The concert is said to be rescheduled for some time this month.
The song’s music video will drop on February 15. Vocalist Heidi Shepherd stated “From concept to edit, we had a hand in all aspects of our very own ‘Gotham’. This video was filmed in Orem, UT at my parent’s film studio, Shepherd Grip & Lighting, where the entire family joined forces to bring this idea to life. You can definitely say that this was a family affair… From all the stunts to the performances, we are so excited to show the world the silly, comic side of Butcher Babies. After all, we all have a little super hero in us waiting to break free.”
