American rock band The Strokes released a robotic new music video for their track “The Adults Are Talking.” The song was featured on their first album in seven years, The New Abnormal, which was released in early April of this year. The video, directed by Roman Coppola, was just released today. Coppola, an Academy Award nominee, is a filmmaker, screenwriter and producer.
The “The Adults Are Talking” video is shown to take place in a futuristic setting where superhuman androids are shown playing baseball against their competitors, which happen to be humans. As the game progresses, the band find themselves struggling to keep themselves ahead of the androids. Eventually, Julian Casablancas, frontman for The Strokes, grasped a win for his team by successfully making it back to home plate.
“The Adults Are Talking” fit the bill for a standard song by The Strokes. The band has been classified as a few genres under the rock umbrella, but indie rock is one that really suits them best. The sound of their newest album brings in nostalgic waves from their earlier projects.
According to The Strokes’ website, the band is planning to play a couple live shows next year. To kick off the 2021 concert dates, they plan to play at The Forum on May 15.
The Strokes were among many other big name artists for the Fuji Rock festival lineup that was announced in March of this year. Tame Impala, Disclosure, FKA twigs, Major Lazer and more were also on the lineup. The festival was scheduled for August 22 and 23 at the Naeba Ski Resort in Niigata Prefecture, Japan. However, due to the coronavirus outbreak, Fuji Rock was canceled. On the other hand, Outside Lands festival remains optimistic as they have scheduled dates for their festival to take place on August 6-8 of 2021 at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. The Strokes are alongside Lizzo, Tyler The Creator, Vampire Weekend and more on that lineup.
