Melvins founder Roger “Buzz” Osbourne, better known as King Buzzo, has released a new track “Delayed Clarity” from his upcoming collaborative album with Trevor Dunn of Mr. Bungle, Gift of Sacrifice. This upcoming project release has been delayed to August 14, where it will arrive via Ipecac Recordings.
“Delayed Clarity” is a more acoustic effort, with an acoustic guitar and Dunn’s bass serving as the bulk of the instrumental alongside the inclusion of strings during the verses and chorus. This track takes some cues from classic blues and folk, while King Buzzo’s prophetic vocal performance and the use of strings add in a psychedelic quality. The final part of the track ends with an ambient like electronic sound, with abrasive synths dominating the song’s conclusion before it is cut off prematurely.
King Buzzo dropped “I’m Glad I Could Help Out” back in April, where it was accompanied by an eerie music video directed by Jesse Nieminen, who shot the project with mix of black and white and distorted color effects. The track follows a similar acoustic psychedelia vibe, although King Buzzo’s vocals are a lot more gritty. The performer also joined up with Void Manes for a special event at the La-La Land Gallery in January.
The artist’s band The Melvins announced a new collaborative project with Mudhoney last month called White Lazy Boy. Mr. Bungle have been hard at work too, releasing their first new recording in over two decades “USA,” which is a cover originally performed by The Exploited.
