Celebrate 21 Years of Gloom, Beauty and Despair with Swallow The Sun Live at the Whisky A Go Go on 4/7/21

Finnish doom and gloom rockers Swallow The Sun are heading on their 21st anniversary tour of “Gloom, Beauty and Despair.” They’re bringing Moldovan metalcore band Infected Rain along for the ride, so brace yourself for a night of doom and gloom live at the infamous Whisky a Go Go on April 7, 2021.

Founded at the turn of the century by Juha Raivio and soon joined by Pasi Pasanen, Swallow The Sun have released six full-length albums, one triple album, one EP, one demo and five singles. Their debut album The Morning Never Came earned the band early success as they were chosen as the “newcomer of the year” in Inferno Magazine. Each subsequent album made the top charts in Finland, with their 2019 album When a Shadow Is Forced Into The Light placing at No. 1.

Over the years, their signature sound has evolved, experimentally adding theatrical elements to their doom metal sound. The band has also focused on elements of grief and loss — When a Shadow Is Forced Into The Light focusing on the death of Raivio’s partner, his mourning, and life since her death. Swallow The Sun’s live performance has been described as awe-inspiring and grandeur. Along with special guests Infected Rain, this show is not-to-be-missed if you’re a fan of all things doom and gloom.
