Last month Neurosis member Steve Von Till announced a new solo album called No Wilderness Deep Enough. That album will be out on August 7.

Today he has shared a new video for a song from that album, a visceral track that relies heavily on atmospheric instrumentals and Von Till’s commanding vocals. The video by Josh Graham adds a psychedelic nature to the track, with visuals of natural scenery given heavy editing for a haunting effect. The lyrical themes of No Wilderness Deep Enough take cues from living with the natural world around us, so the stark images of the video are an appropriate companion to the meditative seven-minute track.

Von Till is best known for his work in the highly influential experimental metal band Neurosis. The Bay Area band started as a hardcore-influenced group but quickly shifted to a more dynamic, avant-garde approach to metal, helping carve out the niche of post-metal along with bands like ISIS and Godflesh. Along with fellow guitarist Scott Kelly, Von Till provides the vocals for Neurosis.

He’s also released albums as Harvestman and under his own name, as well as recording with Neurosis spin-off band Tribes of Neurot. Harvestman last released an album in 2017 with the record Music for Monoliths.

His new solo album No Wilderness Deep Enough takes inspiration from a variety of sources. These influences include Jóhann Jóhannsson, Brian Eno and Coil. The record features a variety of instrumentation, including mellotron and electronics, plus Brent Arnold on cello and Aaron Korn on French horn. The result is an album that has incredible depth, with new treats revealing themselves with each listen.
