Cass McCombs and Steve Gunn to play two nights 8/7 and 8/8 at the Lodge Room

It’s singer-songwriter weekend at the Lodge Room as Cass McCombs and Steve Gunn are scheduled to perform two nights in a row in early August. Presented by (((folkYEAH!))), a Northern California based music and events curator, and KCRW, the Lodge room is a stop on their tour as the pair head up north to continue.

Cass McCombs performs a mixed bag of folk music, americana, psychedelia, and rock. In his latest album, Tip of the Sphere, McCombs draws sounds from his predecessors, recalling Elton John-style pianos and Lou Reed vocals. The album received much acclaim from review sites, and his live performances can be expected to showcase many of the new album’s songs, and does not disappoint in the subject of lengthy jams. McCombs has opened for recognized artists such as Modest Mouse, Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, and John Cale, but his solo shows have also sold out at venues such as Lincoln Hall.

Steve Gunn is primarily known as having performed as a member of Kurt Vile’s “Violators,” supporting on guitar. His latest album The Unseen In Between was also released in 2019, also to much praise from critics.

McCombs and Gunn will perform two full band sets, so expect a lengthy, jam-ridden night!
