Devin Towsend Releases New Video for “Honeybunch” Featuring Che Aimee Dorval from Quarantine Sessions

Alternative heavy metal performer Devin Townsend is keeping the ball rolling on his recent Quarantine sessions, and has now released the sixth part of the series titled “Honeybunch.” This latest release is a new track featuring his frequent collaborator Che Aimee Dorval, which is accompanied by a video directed by Wayne Joyner.

“Honeybunch” features an eclectic blend of science fiction references, opening up with a flying DeLorean, reminiscent of the time travel machine featured in the Back to The Future film series. Various figures such as dancing robots and aliens performing in a rock band are also shown, alongside classic CGI visuals showing a virtual world akin to movies such as Tron.

The song is a unique mix of funk, with catchy basslines and groovy guitars, complemented by rhytmic drums, which give the song a dance like feel. The chorus and bridges feature a heavier rock inspired sound, taking some influences from classic rock and funk hybrid groups such as Funkadelic, mixed in with Townsends signature playing. Dorval’s vocal performance helps drive this eclectic sound, while drummer Federico Paulovich utilizes a variety of unique tempos to match the quirky track.

Townsend released the track “Quarantine” as the first part of the series last week. Parts two and three included previously unreleased sketch from his Z2 era material titled “Part 2: ZTV Rough tests” and cover of The Vengaboys’ “We Like To Party” featuring Dorval abd Anneke Van Giersebergen. Parts four and five included two new songs titled “Good Morning!” and “Stampy’s Blaster.”
