Australian rock band King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard have only been around for less than a decade, however the band have quickly become one of the most prolific artists of the decade, releasing 15 albums in the span of seven years. Despite these constant releases the band hasn’t slowed down, and have announced a dozen tour dates, including two special “marathon,” shows.
While 10 of the band’s tour dates will take place in Asia, the band’s “marathon” shows will take place at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, California on April 18th, and in Morrison, Colorado on May 6th. These special sets will have the band perform a three-hour set that spans all 15 albums in their discography.
The band released two albums earlier this year alone, a thrash metal album entitled Infest The Rats Nest, and their take on boogie rock and blues rock entitled Fishing for Fishies. Releasing so many albums in such a small time span meant multiple album releases in one year, with 2017 being their most prolific as it saw the release of dropped Flying Microtonal Banana, Murder of the Universe, Sketches of Brunswick East, Polygondwanaland and Gumboot Soup.
Infest The Rats Nest was accompanied by a first person shooter videogame, entitled Mars For The Rich, a nod to one of the band’s songs of the same name. in Mars For The Rich, the player is forced to shoot out of a room infested with rats.
