In 1991 heavy metal band Machine Head came into existence, releasing their seminal debut album three years later; Burn My Eyes (1994). In December their celebratory 25th anniversary world tour will travel through Los Angeles, where they will play the Hollywood Palladium. Hailing from Oakland, CA they established themselves within the heavy metal music scene, gaining a formidable reputation over two and a half decades.
Over the years they have generated albums which have become classics, evolving musically both through the continued experimentation with an assortment of influences and alternating members of the group. Founder Robb Flynn (vocals, guitar) has instigated a partial reunion for the Burn My Eyes tour, which will see a setlist from the bands musical archive of a quarter century. He will be joined onstage by Jared MacEachern (bass guitar), Logan Mader (guitar) and Chris Kontos (drums).
With nine studio albums, most recently Catharsis (2018) they will play hits such as ‘Locust’, ‘Is There Anybody out There’, ‘Davidian’ and the entirety of the the album that brought them deserved notoriety – Burn My Eyes (1994). The homage to this album which will take shape as a second set on every night of their tour, will remind fans new and old of the monumental breakthrough this band made in the metal scene; sonically deconstructing thrash and death metal to establish a new vocabulary of sound – ‘groove metal’.
The Hollywood Palladium has a capacity of 4,000, with floor and mezzanine standing.
