The annual Music Midtown Festival in Atlanta, Georgia has just announced their 2019 line-up which features performers such as Travis Scott, Panic! At The Disco, Billie Eilish, and Vampire Weekend. This festival is set to take place at Piedmont Park, a, urban park right in the heart of the historic city on the weekend of September 14th and 15th.
“I’m very excited for Music Midtown this year. When Alex and I started the festival twenty-five years ago, our goal was to present a diverse group of the biggest names and rising stars in music. Music Midtown 2019 continues that tradition.” says Live Nation Atlanta President, Peter Conlon in a press release. “We’re really looking forward to seeing Atlanta show up for another amazing weekend in Piedmont Park.”
Other prominent artists such as Lizzo, Charlie Puth, 6lack, Lil Yachty, Lord Huron, Tash Sultana, Kali Uchis, , Banks, Local Natives, MØ and Jaden Smith will be attending the festival. Past artists who have performed at the Atlanta festival include Outkast, Igy Pop, Earth Wind & Fire, Run DMC and Jack White.
Billie Eillish is currently have a busy year with major festival appearances at Life is Beautiful, Coachella and Pukkelpop Music Festival planned for this year. She recently tapped into the surreal with the release of her latest video “bad guy,” off her latest album release When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?
Vampire Weekend have recently ended a hiatus that took more than five years with the release of their latest album Father of the Bride. According to the band’s frontman Ezra Koenig, the band’s album improved because of the hiatus.
“On the last record, I had this slight feeling that we got a little bit too big [now] sometimes people ask me, Are you nervous that you’ve been gone so long? And I might have been nervous three years ago, like, Am I gonna get all this shit together?” Koenig explained in an interview with GQ. ” Now I’m at this place where I’m kinda like, if the record wasn’t done and I wasn’t excited to go on tour, I might even wait longer. Not only did I stop stressing about the fact that it had taken so long, I started to be like, This makes sense. Why do people release music more than every five years?”
UPDATE (7/8): The fest has added Leon Bridges, Cold War Kids, Shaed, and Hembree to the lineup.
