mxdwn PREMIERE: Primaveras’ “Find A Way” is Breezy, Nostalgic Dream Pop Perfection

Primaveras is the latest project from musician James Clifford, with songs that blend clean guitars, psychedelic vocal melodies and a touch of rock attitude. Today we’re pleased to premiere the “Find A Way” from the group’s upcoming EP Anthropometries, which will be released August 7.

“‘Find a Way’ was inspired by a lot of slick 80’s pop; bands like Prefab Sprout, the Style Council, Orange Juice, etc,” said Clifford. “I wanted to write something with really clean and streamlined production, and love the harmonizing guitar that comes in for the outro.”

The song is certainly evocative of that specific time-period, with reverb-enhanced vocals slotting in perfectly along uplifting synth lines and a touch of Tropicalia-inspired percussion. It’s the kind of sound that’s as well-suited for a long drive up the PCH at sunset as it is for a dancing in a humid club at 2 AM.

The album title, Anthropometries, is inspired by French painter Yves Klein and his use of humans as paintbrushes in the Anthropometry series. The album combines influences from the worlds of psychedelia, retro dance-pop and rock ‘n roll. It’s the follow up to Clifford’s debut as Primavera, the full-length Echoes in the Well of Being which was released in 2018.
