After the saddening reports that Christine and the Queens had to drop out of Coachella 2019 weekend two after the tragic death of her mother, fans got a couple of extra surprises on Friday night’s Anderson .Paak and the Free Nationals set. First off, Anderson .Paak was joined by ’90s R&B singer Brandy for their new collaboration “Jet Black” off his latest album Ventura.
Not to be outdone, he also had an extra surprise later on in the set. He first played his recent Grammy-winning song from last year “Bubblin’,” an award win which is noteworthy because it was actually a co-winner (it tied for votes) with the Kendrick Lamar/Jay Rock/2Chainz song “King’s Dead.” “King’s Dead” was one of the excellent singles from the mxdwn 2018 album of the year winning Black Panther OST. Anderson .Paak noted the song’s Grammy win but then pointed out how he wasn’t the only winner for the award and brought out Jay Rock to do his portion of the stellar song. After that, he also had Jay Rock do his song “Win.”
See video of the two Jay Rock guest appearances below. We’ll update soon with footage of the Brandy appearance. UPDATE: Now find video of Brandy’s appearance below as well.
