Tame Impala performed as musical guests on the March 30 episode of “Saturday Night Live,” hosted by Sandra Oh. The band debuted a new track, “Borderline” and played another new single “Patience.” The Australian music project is led by Kevin Parker, Dominic Simper, Jay Watson, Cam Avery and Julien Barbagallo.

Tame Impala will headline both weekends at Coachella 2019 on April 13 and April 20 and play Shaky Knees Festival in Atlanta, Corona Capital, Boston Calling and Primavera Festival in Barcelona. The band is signed by Interscope Records in the US and Fiction Records in the UK.

The band released their new single “Patience”just four years after album Currents was released. The Currents album produced much notoriety for the band and skyrocketed their success as artists. The track “Patience” is described as a song with a soothing piano riff, corresponding synth lines, a congo roll that drives the rhythm of the song and the charm of their signature psychedelic tunes.

Parker describes his music recording as “the kind of music that is the result of one person constructing an awesome symphony of sound. You can layer your own voice 700 times for half a second if you want, and I just love that kind of music.  The only jamming that’s done as a band is done a long time after the song is recorded for the sake of the live environment. It’s good for us, because we can take a song that’s been recorded and do what we want to it: slow it down, speed it up, make it 10 seconds or 10 minutes long. It gives us a lot of freedom.”

Tame Impala has won several awards including, Album of the Year in 2011 and 2012 at the Rolling Stone Awards, Best Album in 2015 at the WAMI Awards, and many more. The band will take the stage at Fox Theater in Pomona on Thursday, April 11 prior to their Coachella performance. They will also play the Osheaga Music Festival on August 2-4 in Parc Jean-Drapeau, Montreal.

Kelly Tucker: Originally from Los Angeles, I grew up listening to all types of music. My first concert was Aerosmith with Skid Row, then moved on to concerts with Metallica, Lollapalooza, Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden and more. One of my favorite shows of all time was when I was in college and someone took me to see the Allman Brothers play. I also scalped a ticket to see Pearl Jam and the amazing Eddie Vedder sing his heart out. My professional career started in 2000 at Nielsen Business Media where I was an assistant in a sales department and later got promoted to advertising account executive. When the recession hit in 2008 and the magazine was sold, I took a job at a call center and later got promoted to assistant to the CEO and COO of a global company. In 2017, I took a position at a pharmaceutical agency, and now currently responsible for coordinating meeting logistics for physicians and pharma reps throughout the United States. In my spare time, I work at Peace4Kids a non-profit in South Los Angeles and write screenplays in hopes to make a breakthrough.
