Roskilde Festival Announces 2019 Lineup Featuring Julia Holter, The Cure and Parquet Courts

Roskilde North Europe’s largest culture and music festival, which has been in existence since 1971, has announced its 2019 line-up. The list of performers scheduled to grace the stages at this year’s Roskilde Festival is long and stellar.

Julia Holter the Los Angeles-based composer/multi-instrumentalist performed at the festival back in 2012, will be returning next year. She has recently released her new album Aviary and is currently on her 2018-2019 tour around Europe, the US and Australia.

British gothic band, The Cure, will be making their fifth appearance at the annual festival. They are set to have a busy 2019 with their European tour. Back in April, it was announced by Mxdwn that the band were working on some new material, there  has been no mention of a release date as of yet.

Parquet Courts the Brooklyn-based four-piece, originally dubbed ‘Americana punk’ Performed back in 2013 will also be making a second appearance. The band have just finished 32-date summer tour around Europe and the US promoting their current album Wide Wake! produced by Brian Burton AKA Danger Mouse.

With the official lineup being announced, it appears that this year’s festival is going to be an even wild time. The new list of artists being revealed should make plenty of music fans very happy. Among the list includes Bob Dylan who will grace the Orange stage. Also performing in Denmark is Travis Scott, Cardi B, Robert Plant, Bring Me The Horizon, Christine and The Queens, Tears for Fears and Robyn just to name a few.

Roskilde Festival boasts an impressive 8 stages, the headline stage being an orange big top which is big enough to fit inside an arena. Last year fans congregated inside to watch performances from the likes of Gorillaz, Bruno Mars and Eminem. The festival is one of the largest music and arts festival in Northern Europe and e dry thing about it is in support for a good cause. A non-profit who’s purpose, according to the the festival’s official website, “supports initiatives benefitting children and young people and to support humanitarian and cultural work.”

Once the festival is done, everything is donated to charity. So, if you are in the area and have the free time, come check out Roskilde; listen to some good music, and support a good cause. Tickets for the festival are on sale now, camping tickets go on sale on January 31 2019.

The week-long festival will take place from June 29 until July 6 and will include not only music but also food, and a lake to cool off in.

UPDATE (4/10): Roskilde has added several artists to its 2019 lineup and shared an updated flyer. The new artists that will be headed to Northern Europe this summer include Lizzo, Sharon Van Etten and Chance the Rapper. T

Afrika Green: Afrika is British/American drummer, who graduated with a first-class degree in Music Performance from the Academy of Contemporary Music. In addition to drumming for the Pet Shop Boys she is currently working for Drum and Bass DJ, High Contrast and Becky Hill. While touring, she completed her memoir which she hopes will give a candid look into the struggles and successes she experienced during her musical career.
