Mac DeMarco @ Hollywood Palladium 8/25

Following the release of his most recent album This Old Dog, Mac DeMarco is scheduled to perform at the Hollywood Palladium on Sat. August 25th. The “Jizz Jazz” artist will be performing most of the songs from the album, including the recently released demos. The show is an all ages event, with tickets costing $80. DeMarco and his crew will be taking the stage at 8:00 PM to start off the night.

Mac DeMarco is a rock artist that has been gaining popularity over the past six years. His first album 2 has always been a fan favorite, however, it wasn’t until his second studio album titled Salad Days from 2014 that the artist became known to the mainstream public. It is DeMarco’s signature sound that seems to win most listeners over. The vintage and sometimes “cheap” equipment that he uses is a staple in his music. For example, reel-to-reel tape recorders are almost always used to record his tracks. This Old Dog actually happens to be one of the only albums not recorded on a tape recorder; instead recorded with a MacBook.

The artist’s various methods of performing and recording really sets him apart from most musicians. The indie-rock/soft-rock tone of his songs keep listeners in a good mood and wanting more. His songs almost always seem to be timeless classics the second they release. It’s safe to say that DeMarco has mastered the technique of creating tracks that carry the positive attributes of old and new sounds.

Julian Pino: I'm a recent graduate with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Business. I graduated from California State University Channel Islands in Camarillo, California, but I now reside in Los Angeles. I'm very passionate about music and have been trying to involve myself with the culture surrounding it for as long as I can remember. I was recently fortunate enough to work with the thriving new multi-channel network, Create Music Group where I learned many new things about the music industry. Here, I acquired several skills regarding music monetization and even became certified in YouTube Content Ownership. When I'm not working on the clock I usually spend my time finding new music. As a DJ/producer, I take pride in discovering new artists and different types of genres. I recently started a project where I intend to support and share new artists on social media so that they're getting the recognition that they deserve. I also make an effort to attend local shows whether the performers are superstar artists or aspiring artists. Ultimately, I aim to positively impact the community of artists and listeners that are as impassioned about music as I am.
