My Bloody Valentine @ Shrine Expo Hall 7/22

Praised rock band and Dublin natives My Bloody Valentine will be performing at the Shrine Expo Hall on Sun. July 22. American rock band, Protomartyr, will also be joining My Bloody Valentine for a night of post-punk sounds. Tickets for the show were originally $49.50, however, there is a chance that only resale tickets will be available, which will cost you $60 minimum. This is indeed an all ages show, with doors opening at 7:00 PM and the show beginning at 8:00 PM.

The seasoned veterans of the genre will certainly be showcasing their unique take on rock music. My Blood Valentine has been through different style stages throughout their career. Ever since the formation of the band in 1987, the group has experimented with different techniques and sub-genres in the rock music spectrum. The band has also acquired influences from artists outside of its genre, like hip-hop group Public Enemy. In addition, two of the founding members, Kevin Shields and Colm O Ciosoig, were rumored to be sampling drum and bass sounds for their third studio album MBV.

Protomartyr, on the hand, is a more modern rock band from Detroit, Michigan. While being founded in 2008, the band has often been referred to have a 70’s post-punk style. Both bands have a similar yet very distinct style, which only seems fitting to have them perform on the same night. Protomartyr will have concert goers fired up from the beginning of the show allowing the rockstars from MBV to really tear the house down.

Julian Pino: I'm a recent graduate with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Business. I graduated from California State University Channel Islands in Camarillo, California, but I now reside in Los Angeles. I'm very passionate about music and have been trying to involve myself with the culture surrounding it for as long as I can remember. I was recently fortunate enough to work with the thriving new multi-channel network, Create Music Group where I learned many new things about the music industry. Here, I acquired several skills regarding music monetization and even became certified in YouTube Content Ownership. When I'm not working on the clock I usually spend my time finding new music. As a DJ/producer, I take pride in discovering new artists and different types of genres. I recently started a project where I intend to support and share new artists on social media so that they're getting the recognition that they deserve. I also make an effort to attend local shows whether the performers are superstar artists or aspiring artists. Ultimately, I aim to positively impact the community of artists and listeners that are as impassioned about music as I am.
