Last Waltz Tribute Announce 2018 Lineup Featuring Kevin Morby, Nicole Atkins and Nels Cline

The Band was formed by Rick Danko, Garth Hudson, Richard Manuel, Robbie Robertson and Levon Helm. The American- Canadian rock band was formed in 1968 in Toronto, Ontario. The Band was originally formed as a backing band for Ronnie Hawks called the Hawks. Members of The Band joined the Hawks one by one from 1958 to 1963. They separated from Hawkins in 1964, after the separation they toured and released a few singles under different band names.

Bob Dylan hired them for his United States tour in 1965 and his world tour in 1966. After touring with Bob Dylan they recorded The Basement Tapes in 1967, the basis for their 1968 debut album, Music From Big Pink. They started performing as The Band in 1968 and released ten studio albums. A live performance in a ballroom which was filmed for Martin Scorsese 1978 film The Last Waltz. Guitarist Robbie Robertson left the band in 1983. The band broke up in 1999 but some members were successful in the music industry. The Last Waltz new performances from The Band, interviews done with band members conducted by Scorsese himself and footage from a 1976 concert.

According to BrooklynVegan The Capitol Theatre in will be hosting a tribute to The Band’s legendary concert film The Last Waltz, The Complete Last Waltz with stars on November 17,2018. The line-up for this year’s tribute concert includes Kevin Morby,Nicole Atkins and Nels Cline.

Nicole Atkins is an American singer-songwriter has recorded four albums, her most recent being Goodnight Rhonda Lee which was released on July 21,2017. According to mxdwn Atkins began her spring 2018 tour for Goodnight Rhonda Lee on February 25 and will end on August 18. American musician, singer and songwriter Kevin Morby will also be performing at The Complete Last Waltz. Morby has released four studio albums, his most recent City Music was released in June 2017. Nels Cline is an American guitarists, composer and member of Wilco. Cline has been in the music scene since the 1980’s playing jazz. Cline’s second Blue Note release, Currents, Constellations the debut The Nels Cline 4 is out now.
