Folk music fans can rejoice as the highly successful Moon River Music Festival is back for another year, with another stellar lineup set featuring the likes of The Avett Brothers, Trampled by Turtles and I’m With Her as reported by the Times Free Press. The two-day festival will take place on September 8th and 9th at Coolidge Park in Chattanooga. The Moon River Festival was founded in 2014 by Drew Holcomb and Paul Steele as a way to show off the rich musical heritage of the south and Memphis. While the original festival was a one-day affair, it was so successful that it developed into a two-day extravaganza and had to be moved to a larger venue, necessitating the move to Chattanooga. Unlike many festivals, the Moon River Festival will feature two stages alternating acts, so fans do not have to decide who to see. The festival will also feature plenty of family-friendly activities, and promises to be one of the more exciting festivals of the early fall.
The Avett Brothers have been laying low recently. However, the group is one of the best live acts around and will certainly close out the festival with some powerful performances.
Trampled by Turtles are gearing up for a new record, which is set to come out later this year and will feature plenty of hot bluegrass playing the band has become known for.
Since their rapid formation last year, I’m With Her have become a formidable trio, with Sara Watkins, Sarah Jarosz, and Aoife O’Donovan demonstrating that they are on the rise with their rich vocals and delicate melodies.
