Following their experimental electronic outing EP Hard, The Neighbourhood just announced a new EP to imagine to come in January 2018. Along with the announcement, the breezy alt-pop band released a pulsating new single “Scary Love.” Moving from their alternative pop beginnings with hits like “Sweater Weather” from their 2013 album I Love You., to dabbling more with rap and R&B with songs like “#Icanteven” featuring French Montana, the California band keeps on evolving while preserving their signature haunted rock sound. They have proved that they are not your average rock band.
Lead singer Jesse Rutherford keeps the beat light and the lyrics a little dark in the new single. His voice carries the chorus as synths thrum in the background while he sings “your love is scaring me / no one has ever cared for me as much as you do.” “Scary Love” pitched as Zane Lowe’s World Record on his Beats 1 show. Listen to it below. Their EP to imagine is due January 12th via Columbia Records. This month The Neighbourhood is scheduled to play a quick run of sold out shows in Mexico, Texas, and Los Angeles.
